A WORD FROM THE NATIONAL CHAIRPERSON
I am excited to have been chosen as the new national chairperson of the ABK Family Reunion. Holding this position is an awesome task and one that I do not take lightly. In order for the annual ABK Family Reunion to continue, I, the national committee, and the state committees need your prayers and support.
I would like to recognize and thank the former national chairpersons for their foresight, diligence, and labors of love in guiding this family for the first 30 years; Daisy Bacote Chapman (Maryland), Anna Antrum Coley (District of Columbia), Mattie Bacote Sessions (Connecticut), and Queenie King Phillips (New Jersey). I also wish to thank our national secretary, Queenie Guidry who has served faithfully throughout the years.
As your national chairperson, it is my goal to increase attendance at the annual reunion, and participation at the state level. I will be reaching out to you for your suggestions on how we might improve the reunion and keep it going for another 30 years.
We, the national committee, welcome constructive criticism. However, note that it is easy to talk about what needs to be changed but harder to find willing bodies to roll up their sleeves and pitch in to help implement the changes. I ask that you not only provide input as to how we can improve, but also make yourself available to work to make the reunion better. If contacted, by the national or state committee, please consider assisting. Remember, this is the ABK Family Reunion, not the national or state reunion. For this wonderful event to continue, requires YOU!
So let’s work together to make the ABK Family Reunion the best reunion in the country.
